The City of Bloomsdale is a bustling little town with a population of around 639 people according to the last census, located directly off Interstate 55 and Highway 61. The city can trace its roots back to 1800's where it was known as "La Fourche à Duclos", meaning "the fork of Duclos". Bloomsdale is located in Jackson Township, in the county of Ste. Genevieve, Mo which is where the oldest French Settlement is also located.
